Biography
Born on October 1 ( October 13 according to a new style) in 1898 in the city of Pochep, Chernihiv province (now Bryansk region) in the family of a landlord clerk.
He studied at the parish school, then - at the elementary school. After graduating from college, from 1915, he worked for some time as a clerk. In January 1916 he was drafted into the army and sent as a private to the 8th reserve infantry regiment in the city of Roslavl . In the same year, he attended an accelerated training course at the Alekseevsky Military School, after which he was sent to his regiment as a junior company officer, where he later served as company commander. He took part in the First World War. After the October Revolution, he was in the elected post of battalion commander with the rank of second lieutenant .
He was demobilized from the Russian Imperial Army in March 1918, and in August he was drafted into the Red Army and appointed military commander to the Kotlyakovsky Volost Military Commissariat of the Pochep County. After the dismissal of the military registration and enlistment office, he left for the post of company commander of the 512th Infantry Regiment of the 57th Division . He fought in the Crimea. From November 1921 to October 1922 he served as the company commander of the 69th Rifle Regiment of the 23rd Division .
After the Civil War in Russia, he served as commander of the 74th and 59th separate guard platoons in Kharkov, company commander of the 69th Rifle Regiment (1922-1923), head of the guard team of the Kharkov Provincial Commissariat (1923-1924), assistant commander and company commander 69th Rifle Regiment (1924-1926), assistant commander and battalion commander of the 68th Rifle Regiment of the 23rd Division (1926-1931). From November 1930 to March 1931 he was a student of the Higher Rifle-Tactical Courses of the Red Army Infantry Command " Shot ".
Since June 1931, S. A. Ignatiev served as an assistant commander of the 68th regiment for combatant unit, and then as commander of the 1st battalion of the same regiment. In 1935 he graduated in absentia from the Military Academy. M.V. Frunze. In March 1936 he was appointed commander of the 224th Infantry Regiment of the 87th Division of the Kiev Special Military District . In January 1940, he was awarded the military rank of colonel . In August 1940 he was appointed chief of staff, and in March 1941 - commandant of the Mogilev-Podolsky fortified area on the Dniester River .
After the outbreak of World War II, from August to December 1941, Ignatiev was at the disposal of the Military Councils of the 18th Army and the Southern Front, engaged in checking the defensive lines of the Red Army. Since January 1942, he participated in hostilities as part of the troops of the 151st Directorate of the fortified area in the south of Ukraine, in the Crimea, the Kuban, and the North Caucasus. In the battles in the Kuban, he was wounded in both legs, after being cured, he was appointed commandant of the 153rd fortified area of the Moscow defense zone. As part of the troops of this fortified area, Sergei Alexandrovich ended the Great Patriotic War, participating in battles on the 1st and 2nd Belorussian fronts. He was awarded the title of Major General in September 1944.
From December 1946 to December 1948 he served as the head of the department of fortified areas of the Belarusian military district . From December 1948 to April 1958 he was in the post of Sverdlovsk Regional Military Commissioner [2] .
He died on June 22, 1969 in Sverdlovsk, was buried at the Shirokorechensky cemetery of the city. His son, Colonel Ignatiev V.S., was buried next to him .
