WWE Raw Women's Champion [1] - Women's champion title [1] in professional wrestling , created and promoted by WWE [2] on the Raw brand , [3] . This is one of the four women's WWE titles [2] , along with one of the main titles of the main female roster WWE Champion SmackDown for women [4] as well as two titles preparatory brands with the women's NXT title [5] and the women's NXT UK title
It was approved on April 3, 2016 under the original name WWE Women's Champion, instead of the old now abolished WWE Diva Champion title [6] . As a result of the division into brands, the title [1] was assigned to the Raw brand, [3] , as a result of which the name was changed to WWE Raw Champion among women . Charlotte [7] now Charlotte Flair [7] became the first champion.

On April 3, 2016, a member of the WWE Hall of Fame Lita [8] appeared on the pre-show WrestleMania 32 [9] and, summing up the history of female professional wrestling in WWE [2] , introduced a new champion title [1] and stated that women are WWE [ 2] will be referred to not as divas , but as “ WWE superstars [2] ”, as well as men [10] .
Then Lita [8] announced that the first champion [1] would be the winner of the Triple Threat match between Charlotte [7] , Sasha Banks [11] and Becky Lynch [12] that same evening. Charlotte [7] won and became the first champion [1] in history.
