Scott Darling grew up in southern Chicago and admired Chicago Blackhawks goalkeeper Ed Belfort . As a junior, he played in the North American Hockey League , Eastern Junior Hockey League , and US Hockey League . Before becoming a professional, Scott played for the University of Maine in the Eastern Hockey League .
Having become a professional and having successfully played the 2013–14 season in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals team, on July 1, 2014 Darling signed a one-year rookie contract with Chicago Blackhawks.
Scott Darling made his debut in the NHL on October 26 in a match against the Ottawa Senators . “Chicago” won 2-1, and the goalkeeper repelled 32 shots. In the regular season 2014–15, Scott played 26 games and won 14 victories in them. In the playoffs of the first round of the series against the Nashville Predators , Darling replaced the unsuccessfully played Corey Crawford . As a result of this, the “Indians” were able to reverse the unsuccessfully developing series, winning it with a score of 4-2. Darling no longer played in the playoffs, but Chicago won the Stanley Cup . Also, Scott set a record for the novice goalkeeper for the playoffs, not missing for 67 minutes (67:44) after his debut appearance on the ice and reflecting 42 shots.
After winning the Cup, Stanley extended the contract with Chicago for 2 years in the amount of approximately $ 1.17 million. Before the contract ended on April 28, 2017 after Blackhawks left the playoffs, he was exchanged to Carolina Hurricanes for the right to choose 3 2017th draft round. [1] Immediately signed a 4-year contract with Hurricanes with a salary of $ 4.15 million per year. [2]
