Life and career

Masako Ota first came to the cinema in 1965, hitting the Nikkatsu studio [1] . In 1970, the not-so-famous, but already experienced actress Masako changed her name to Meiko Kaji, and in the same year, Teruo Ishii gave her the main role in the film Tattoed swordswoman . Meiko is casting for the lead role in the Stray Cat Rock series directed by Yasuharu Hasebe , a girl’s gang story. In 1971, Nikkatsu switched to more commercially viable pink films , and Kaji went to Toei Studios, where he starred in four WiP movies from the Female Prisoner Scorpion series, an adaptation of Toru Sinohara ’s famous manga that made her famous throughout Japan. In the fourth part, Toei replaced the director Shunyu Ito with Yasuhara Hasebe, and Kaji left the series unhappy with the replacement. Until 1998, six more films about the scorpion prisoner were released, but they no longer had such success as the first parts.

Meiko Kaji starred in television series, she is a TV presenter and frequent guest of many television shows dedicated to the 1970s and old cinema, as well as music of that era.
