Kamasi Washington is an American jazz musician, composer, producer and band leader. Mostly known as tenor saxophonist .

Biography
Kamashi Washington was born in Los Angeles [1] in a family of music educators, grew up in Inglewood . He graduated from the music "academy" at the high school. Alexander Hamilton in Los Angeles [2] . Then he entered the University of California at the Department of Musical Ethnography, where he began playing in a group that also included teachers Kenny Burrell , Billy Higgins and band leader Gerald Wilson . He participated in the recording of the album Young Jazz Giants (2004). [3] [4] Collaborated with various musicians, including outside of jazz itself. Worked with Herbie Hancock , Snoop Dogg , [5] , Lorin Hill , Nas , George Duke , Chaka Khan , Flying Lotus , Horace Tapscott , Thundercat , Mike Muir , Francisco Aguabella , Pan African Orchestra, Rafael Sadik and Kendrick Lamar ( To Pimp album a Butterfly ).
The idea to start playing with a large orchestra came up with Washington during the recording of Gerald Wilson's album “In my time” (2006), in which he had a chance to participate. [6] The musician's first officially released album, The Epic , was released in May 2015 and was well received by critics. [7]
