In 1921, after the death of his grandmother Isabella of Brazil, Pedro Enrique became the head of the Brazilian imperial house, and his younger brother, Prince Luis Gastan Orleans-Braganza, became his nominal heir, receiving the title of Imperial Prince of Brazil .
