Biography
Vasily Dmitrievich Naumenko was born in February 1917 in the village of Novotroitskoye (now in the Volnovakhsky district of the Donetsk region of Ukraine) in a peasant family.
By 1931 he graduated from a 7-year school. He worked as a turner.
At the front since September 1943. He fought as part of the 91st Guards Regiment (33rd Guard Rifle Division, 51st Army, 4th Ukrainian Front). On April 20, 1944, the guard sergeant Naumenko in the battle for a height of 170.3 on the left bank of the Belbek River near the village of the same name (7 km north of Sevastopol ), firing at the enemy, supported the attack of the rifle units, which contributed to the fulfillment of the combat mission. On May 5, 1944, for fighting on the Molochnaya River (Ukraine), he was awarded the Order of Glory of the III degree. June 3, 1944 for the courage shown in the battles for Sevastopol, he was awarded the Order of Glory of the II degree.
On July 28, 1944, senior sergeant Naumenko as part of the same regiment and division (transferred to the 2nd Guards Army of the 1st Baltic Front) in a battle in the vicinity of Lithuania (Lithuania) put down 2 firing points from a machine gun and destroyed over 20 Hitlerites and did not allow the enemy to evacuate a damaged tank from the bridge on the Shushva River, blocking the movement of enemy tanks on the bridge - for which March 24, 1945 was awarded the Order of Glory of the I degree.
In 1946 he was demobilized and returned to his native village. He worked as a turner at the Novotroitsk mine. In 1955 moved to Fedorovsky district of Kustanai region. He worked as a mechanic in a machine and tractor workshop, since 1959 - as a manager of a department at a state farm. Since 1958 - member of the CPSU. He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, medals.
He died on September 15, 1981, was buried in the village of Lesnoy, Fedorovsky district.
