Ata Kopek Mergen ( Turk. Ata Köpek Mergen ; sometimes Kopeckmergen , Kopeck -Meren , Kopek Mergenov ; 1898-1981) - Turkmen folk joker, prankster, comedian , writer of the 20th century.

He addressed the topics and problems of rural life, the relationship of people in the Soviet period (and during the reign of S. A. Niyazov, he was credited with anecdotes, probably composed by other people [1] ). Collaborated in Tokmok magazine. Streets in the cities of Ashgabat and Mary are named after him. The jokes of Ata Kopeck Mergen were placed in books and translated into Russian (collection “Point of View”). He is the author of the books “Inverted Well” [2] , “Cow, ram, bee ... I love them.”
He is devoted to the essay by A. I. Aborsky, “Maybe it is the latter” [3] .
