Build (stylized spelling: // build / ) is an annual business conference hosted by Microsoft , the audience of which is programmers and web developers using Windows , Windows Phone , Microsoft Azure and other Microsoft technologies. The first conference was held in 2011, succeeding other Microsoft events - the (an occasional conference dedicated to developing applications for Windows) and (a web development conference with a focus on Microsoft Silverlight and ASP. NET ).

Conference over the years
In 2011, the conference was held from September 13 to 16 in Anaheim . Main topics: Windows 8 , Windows Server 2012 and Visual Studio 2012 [1] ; preliminary versions of these operating systems for developers were presented here, participants were given Samsung tablets with Windows 8 Developer Preview preinstalled.
In 2012, the conference was held at Microsoft's Redmond campus from October 30 to November 2. The main topics are the release of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 , the launch of Windows Azure [2] . Participants were given Surface RT tablets with Touch Cover, a Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone and provided 100 GB of storage resource on SkyDrive [3] .
Build 2013 was held from June 26 to 28, 2013 in San Francisco at [4] The main event announced at the conference was the upgrade to Windows 8.1 [5] [6] . Each participant received a Surface Pro , Acer Iconia W3 (the first 8-inch tablet on Windows 8 [7] ) with a Bluetooth keyboard, a one-year subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud and 100 GB of free space on SkyDrive [8] .
The 2014 conference was also held at the Moscone Center from April 2 to 4, 2014, and the date and venue were published on the Microsoft website on December 12, 2013 [9] [10] . Conference participants received Xbox One and $ 500 gift cards at the Microsoft Store for free [11] . Main topics: Windows Display Driver Model 2.0 and DirectX 12 , Cortana , Windows Phone 8.1 , Spring Update for Windows 8.1 (Windows 8.1 Update 1). Also at the conference announced the free distribution of Windows for all devices with a screen less than 9 inches and for use in the field of the Internet of things [12] . Among other topics are the Bing Knowledge widget and the connection between applications, .NET Native [13] , (Roslyn), Visual Studio 2013 Update 2 RC , Team Foundation Server 2013 Update 2 RTM, TypeScript 1.0, .
The conference in 2015 was held at the Moscone Center from April 29 to May 1. The registration cost amounted to $ 2,095 [14] [15] . Participants received ultrabooks . [16] . The main topics of the conference: Windows 10 , Windows 10 Mobile , Microsoft HoloLens and Windows Mixed Reality [17] , Windows Server 2016 , Microsoft Exchange Server 2016, Visual Studio 2015 , Visual Studio Code .
In 2016, the event was held at the Moscone Center from March 30 to April 1. The price increased to 2195 dollars [18] , moreover, all tickets were sold out in 1 minute. Unlike previous years, no gadgets were handed out to participants [19] . Key topics: Windows Subsystem for Linux , “ Cortana Chat bot” for Skype , “Power of the Pen and the PC”, .NET Standard Library, , Edge browser extensions, Xamarin (free access for individual use, open source projects, educational research, training and small development teams [20] and implemented a remote iOS simulator for Windows [21] ).
In 2017, the conference was held in downtown Seattle from May 10 to 12, 2017. The Build 2017 application was developed to monitor the conference. [22] The first day of the conference was devoted to Azure technologies, artificial intelligence and the new Microsoft Visual Studio 2017. [23] The second day of the conference was devoted to the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update [24] , .NET Standard 2.0 [25] , the new Fluent Design [ 26] and Xamarin Live Player [27] .
