Game career

In the 2003 NHL draft, Brian Boyle chose the Los Angeles Kings in the first round at number 26. Prior to Boyle, Los Angeles chose number 13 for another striker, Dustin Brown , who later became captain of the Kings. Despite the choice in the first round, Brian did not immediately make his way to the composition of “Los Angeles”, but went to study at Boston College , where he played for the team at Boston Eagles College . Together with the Eagles, Boyle twice became the champion of the NCAA , and in 2005 he was recognized as the most valuable player in the tournament. In his last season for college (2006/07), Boyle was the team captain.

On June 28, 2009, Los Angeles exchanged Boyle at the New York Rangers for the right to choose in the third round of the 2010 draft [1] . In the 2013/14 season, Brian and the Rangers reached the Stanley Cup final , but the New Yorkers lost in five games to the former Boyle club, Los Angeles. At the end of the season, Boyle's contract with the Rangers expired and he became an unlimited free agent.

On July 2, 2014, Boyle signed a three-year contract with Tampa Bay Lightning [2] . And in his first year at the Florida club, Boyle again played in the Stanley Cup finals. And for the second time in a row, his team lost. The Chicago Blackhawks team won the Cup, defeating the Tampa in six matches.

On February 27, 2017, Tampa exchanged Boyle at the Toronto Maple Leafs for striker Byron Freyz and the right to choose in the second round of the 2017 draft pick [3] .

In the summer, as an unrestricted free agent, he signed a 2-year contract for $ 5.5 million with the New Jersey Devils . Before the start of the season, Boyle was found to have leukemia, but despite this, Brian continued his playing career, missing only the beginning of the season [4] . After an injury, Taylor Hall replaced him at the NHL All-Star Game [5] .

Game Characteristic

Brian Boyle is a center forward. Played in this position most of his career, mainly in the third or fourth link. But, depending on the circumstances, Boyle can play on the left in the attack [6] .
