Career
In early 2016, Callum and three other young Portadown players completed an internship at the Scottish Rangers under the NI Club program [4] . In the summer of the same year, in the junior category of the NI Super Bowl in the national team of County Down, he took sixth place [5] . On August 26, Ferris entered the field in the starting lineup of the youth team of Northern Ireland (under 16) , who outplayed their peers from Estonia (1: 0) in a friendly match in Tallinn [6] .
The first time Callum got into the application of the main Portadown team for an official match on December 26, 2016, when his club hosted his implacable rival, Glenavon , as part of the championship . His presence on the bench was the subject of controversy, because in his last match in the junior league (under 17 years) against his peers from the same Glenavon, held on December 9, he was removed from the field. In turn, “Glenavon” was attended by David Elebert , who was supposed to miss the match because of five yellow cards, three of which he received in matches for duplicate squads. However, the Northern Ireland Boys Football Association , sponsored by Ferris, said that it could only be suspended for games in tournaments controlled by it [7] , and Glenavon was punished with technical defeat [8] .
Callum managed to make his debut in adult football on January 3, 2017, when he came on as a substitute after a break in the league’s home game against Glentoran (0: 5). At that time, the player was 15 years old and 182 days old, and thus he became the youngest player of the adult team in Portadown history, breaking the record of the legend of the club Davy Cochran , who entered the field in 1936 at the age of 15 years and 252 days [3] . On April 18, Callum won another record: having hit the Ards goal from the penalty spot at the age of 15 years and 287 days, he became the youngest scorer in the history of the Northern League championship , but the Ports lost that match (2: 3 ) and thereby issued their “departure” in the First Championship [2] .
