About the album
Mondo Bizarro became the first album in three years, after the band left Sire Records and signed a contract with Radioactive Records . The title “Mondo Bizarro” parodies the title of the 1966 film “ Mondo Cane ”. Separately from the album came two singles; " Poison Heart ", released in July 1992 and Strength to Endure , released in October of the same year.
Despite the fact that Dee Di Ramon left the band, he nonetheless wrote three songs for her: “ Poison Heart ”, “Main Man” and “Strength To Endure” to pay off the prison because of his long drug addiction.
In the End of the Century documentary documentary Johnny Ramon , when asked about the album, replied: “I don't like it. I don’t like him at all. ”This is contrary to his 1992 interview with this Argentinean newspaper, where he said:“ Overall, I find two or three songs that I hate in Mondo Bizarro, but otherwise I like almost all the songs, and I am very pleased with him as a whole. " [6]
In 2001, the album received gold status in Brazil [7] .
Songs
The song “Censorshit”, written by Joey Ramon , talks about how rock and rap albums were censored by the PMRC organization, a group of Washington wives who tried to put warnings on records, which later became the norm. It was a reference to Ozzy Osbourne and Frank Zappa . Quote: “Ask Uzziah, Zappa, or me.” We will show you what it means to be free. ”( Eng. Ask Ozzy, Zappa, or Me. We’ll The song refers to Tipper Gore , the wife of former Senator Tennessee and Vice President Al Gore .
"Take It As It Comes" is a cover version of The Doors , originally recorded in 1967. Spider-Man has never appeared on the original release, but later entered into a CD re-release, is a cover on the main theme of the animated series Spider-Man . The song was originally included as a bonus track in the album ¡Adios Amigos! (but in later editions was removed from there) and in the 1995 compilation of Saturday Morning .
“Heidi is a Headcase” was written by Joey Ramon and Daniel Ray. In a podcast interview for Ramones of the Day, CJ said that this song was about a girl named Heidi, who at that time was Joey's girlfriend and also CJ at the same time [8] .
