Vladimir Aleksandrovich Ashkinazi ( June 19, 1873 , Kerch , November 7, 1941 , Paris ) is a Russian writer , feuilleton player, translator and journalist, a theater critic , who also wrote under the pseudonym “V. Azov ".

Biography

Vladimir Ashkinazi studied at the 8th St. Petersburg gymnasium. He graduated from the course in the gymnasium in the city of Lomza. Later he attended lectures at the universities of Paris , Zurich and Bern . Printed in the "News of the day", "Russian Vedomosti", "Russian word", "News", "Speech", "Russia". The Ashkazi feuilletons were translated into Polish, Czech, German and English. He also wrote under the pseudonym Pack, Onegin, and others. In early 1906 he moved from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Undertook the publication of the journal "Good Mat", which was banned after the first issue of the publication of the letter of the Social Revolutionary ES Sazonova. Printed in the magazines "Pencil", "Spectator", "Zarnitsy", "Dragonfly", "Alarm Clock", etc.

He actively collaborated with the magazine " Satyricon " since 1910 . He wrote one-act sketches, scenes and farces, which were staged in the Foundry Theater and the Curve Mirror Theater. Since 1916 hereditary honorary citizen.

After the October Revolution he lived in Petrograd , worked in the publishing house "World Literature". He released under his editorship more than 40 volumes of works by foreign, mostly American, writers. In December 1919, he was arrested as one of the leaders of the House of Writers.

In 1926, Ashkinazi emigrated to France. Collaborated in the "Latest News", a newspaper reporter, was also published in "Satyricon", "Illustrated Russia", the newspaper "7 days", Riga "Today". Treasurer of the Union of Russian Journalists in Paris. During the occupation of Paris by the Nazis lived in the unoccupied part of France, sent correspondence to the "New Russian word". Then he collaborated in the "Russian News". The brother of the writer and journalist Mikhail Alexandrovich Ashkinazi (1863-1936).

Freemasonry

During his time in emigration he joined Freemasonry . He was a member of the Paris Masonic Lodge " Jupiter " № 536 ( WLF ). He was initiated into students on 04/04/1933, elevated to the 2nd degree 10/19/1933, to the 3rd degree 5.4.1934 years. He held the post of first expert in 1934. He remained a member of the box until December 26, 1935 [1] .
