Annan shogi ( Japanese 安南 将 棋annan shōgi ) , also called Korean shogi, is one of the variants of shogi . Popular in Korea and Japan .

Rules
They are the same as in ordinary shogi , except that the figure takes over the moves of the figure it is facing. A variant of this rule - takes over the moves of any piece that protects this piece. The initial arrangement of figures is somewhat different from ordinary shogi .
This game should not be confused with Korean changi chess, which is more like Chinese xiangqi chess than shogi.
Initial placement
It differs from the initial arrangement of classical shogi only in that the pawns along the 2nd and 8th verticals are advanced to the 3rd (from the owner) horizontal.
