Podkozarye ( Serb. Potkozarјe ) is a geographical area in the Republika Srpska , located in the vicinity of Mount Kozar , in the north-eastern part of the Republika Srpska ( Bosnia and Herzegovina ).

Geography
Part of Podkozarya is occupied by the Kozar National Park , which belongs to the Pannonian part of the inland Dinarids in the Republika Srpska. The area of the park is 3520 hectares, the park was founded in 1967 in order to protect the cultural, historical and natural values of Mount Kozar. It is a member of the EUROPARC National Parks Federation of Europe. The largest cities in the territory of Podkozarya and the mountains of Kozary are Novi Grad , Kostaynitsa , Kozarska Dubitsa , Priedor , Gradishka and Laktashi . The largest medical resorts are Mlechanitsa and Mrakowitsa.
History
The most famous archaeological finds in Podkozarye are the Slavic necropolises (burial grounds) dating from the 10th-11th centuries. They were found in Makhovlyany, Baku People and Baltic Bar. The burial ground in the Baltic Bar is one of the largest in the Balkan Peninsula, dating from the Early Middle Ages.
The most important historical event that took place on Mount Kozar was the battle for Kozara 1942, during which the Yugoslav partisan forces repelled the onslaught of superior forces of German troops and their satellites. During the battle, about 30 thousand civilians were exterminated by the Germans and collaborators, the exact number of victims was not established.
Culture
The most important elements of the cultural heritage of the inhabitants of Podkozarya are songs called “ oikacha ” and the Kozar kolo (a kind of Serbian folk dance and song). The largest architectural monument is the Monastery of Mostanica . Various holidays are widely celebrated by locals, during which residents gather for various festivities and concerts. Such gatherings are held annually on August 19 for the feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord, in May and July as a legacy of the Yugoslav holidays (including in memory of the People's Liberation War of Yugoslavia), and also on May 6 on the day of St. George the Gypsies of Podkozarya are organized. So-called “vashari” or “Sayam” (fairs) are also organized.
Sport
In Podkozarye there are two amateur football clubs of the same name from Kozarskaya Dubitsa and Aleksandrovac (Laktashi community).
