Biography
Born into a wealthy merchant family. He studied at the 4th Moscow gymnasium , then at the Lazarevsky Institute of Oriental Languages and the Moscow Archaeological Institute .
Since studying at the gymnasium, he became interested in numismatics. Since 1898 - a member of the Moscow Numismatic Society, from 1903 until his death - the secretary of the society, since 1915 - an honorary member of the society. Full member of the Moscow Archaeological Society , honorary employee of the Rumyantsev Museum . Since December 1919, he worked as a researcher at the Russian Academy of the History of Material Culture . The author of more than 20 works on Russian numismatics.
At the end of 1920 he was arrested. He died, without waiting for trial, in Butyrskaya prison .
