Havatsalot ( Hebrew תכנית חבצלות ) - an elite military-academic officer training program for the Israel Military Intelligence Directorate ^[1] , is one of the most exclusive in the army. The course is based on the concept of the Talpiot program for the training of highly qualified intelligence officers.

Every year, after lengthy checks, 30–40 people who have a high intellectual potential and the makings of a leader fall into the program ^[2] . They are preparing to become future Israeli intelligence officers who will solve the most priority issues, both military and strategic.

The Havatsalot course has been held at the University of Haifa for three years ^[3] . At this time, students receive a deferment from military service. On the course, soldiers study subjects related to military subjects, Middle Eastern history, political science, sociology, Arabic, there is a choice between economics, mathematics, philosophy and computer science. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a bachelor 's degree with two optional specializations (one of which is military). After three years of the Havatsalot course, officers are required to serve six years in Israeli intelligence.
