Mikhail Andreyevich Karsky (real last name Bekman [1] or Breitman [2] , also known as Mechislav Bronislavovich Krakovsky [3] ; 1900 - November 26, 1937 ) - Soviet diplomat.

Biography

Member of the RSDLP (b) since 1917,

  • Since 1918 - service in the Red Army .
  • In 1922 - 1923 - Secretary of the Plenipotentiary Representation of the RSFSR in Lithuania .
  • In 1923 - 1924 - head of the Press Bureau of the Plenipotentiary Representation of the USSR in Poland .
  • In 1925 - 1929 - Assistant Manager, Head of the Department of the Baltic States and Poland of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the USSR.
  • In 1929 - 1930 - Head of the I Western Department of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the USSR.
  • From December 19, 1930 to December 23, 1936 - plenipotentiary representative of the USSR in Lithuania [4] .
  • In 1936 - 1937 - Head of the I Western Department of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the USSR.
  • From May 7 to November 25, 1937 - plenipotentiary representative of the USSR in Turkey [5] .

July 18, 1937 was arrested on charges of "espionage in favor of Polish intelligence and wrecking." Convicted by the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the USSR on November 25, 1937, and shot the next day. Rehabilitated HCVS of the USSR on October 20, 1956 [6] .

He was buried at the Don cemetery in Moscow.

On December 10, 2014, in Moscow, on the facade of the house 2/6 at the Khoromny Deadlock , the memorial sign “ Last Address ” by Mikhail Andreevich Karsky was installed [7] .
