Geography
The city is located in the Danube Lowland, on the banks of the Blatina River. Located 12 km from Bratislava. Since 1932, Farna has been part of the community. Directly to the city, the airport of Bratislava is located, sometimes also called Ivanka. The strategically important highway Bratislava-Budapest passes through Ivanka-on-the-Danube.
History
It was first mentioned in writing under the name Iwand in 1209. Until 1918 - the administrative center of the Pozhon Comitat. On May 4, 1919, a plane crash took place near the city, in which the Slovak politician Milan Štefánik died.
