Rudbar (Persian رودبار, in Tatian language: روبار Rubar) is a city in northern Iran , the center of the Rudbar shahrestan, the largest shahrestan in the Gilan stop . The city is located on the Tehran - Rasht motorway, 268 km from Tehran and 67 km from Rasht. In this city, Iran began to grow olives first of all , and today it grows some of the best types of olives in the world. This is due to the Mediterranean climate of the city and the surrounding region [1] .

Name Origin
In the Tat language, the word "rubar" is used to name the city. This word has various meanings, in particular: “The place of the river in which it flows very quickly”, or “river bank” [2] . The reason for this name of the city is that the city has a huge number of sources and many rivers, including the Sefidrud river.
Attractions
The attractions of Rudbar include the bank of the Sefidrud River (the second largest and one of the most beautiful rivers in Iran). Due to its excellent climate, especially in spring and summer, many tourists from Gilan rest on the shores of Sephidrud. On the banks of its river are a park and shops selling olives, as well as souvenirs and pies from Lahidjan and Fumen. In Rudbar you can try the “Shami-ye Rudbar” dish, prepared with olive oil and herbs growing in the mountains, called “palyang-e small town” [3] .
Demographic Dynamics
According to the three censuses of the Iranian population, on October 25, 1996, October 25, 2006, and October 24, 2011, the population of the city of Rudbar amounted to: 11903, 11558 and 10926 people. For all this time, it has not increased, as in other Iranian cities, but, on the contrary, decreased 1.1 times - a fairly high pace. In all likelihood, such dynamics should be associated with the extremely low birth rate characteristic of some regions of Gilan. The average annual rate of total population decline in 1996-2006 were equal to -0.3% per year, and for 2006-11. the rate of decline was -1.1% per year. That is, this pace sharply increased, which, apparently, is associated with a decrease in the birth rate, as well as a certain increase in emigration from the city. In 2011, data were received on the sex composition of the Rudbar population. According to them, 5399 men and 5527 women lived in the city, that is, 98 men per 100 women, which means the approximate equality of men and women in Rudbar [4] .
