History

The hall of the old Port Mayo terminal station, which was used in regular traffic until 1936-1937
  • Historically, the Port Mayo station was the terminal station of the very first section of the Paris Metro (Port Mayo - Port de Vincennes , which opened with the station on July 19, 1900. For the train traffic, a turn loop was constructed with two side platforms that have survived to our days.
  • In the 1930s, in connection with the extension of line 1, it was decided to transfer the Port Mayo station to the route of the new section under construction to Pont de Neuilly . As a result, on November 15, 1936, a new station hall was opened, behind which a maintenance point was built, and a few months later a site was launched in the suburbs of Paris. [2] The new station was designed to receive seven-car trains, which was never realized in the Paris metro (the maximum number of cars in Paris metro trains, just on lines 1, 4 and 14, is 6). [3] although line 14 platforms with a length of 120.5 m were designed for eight-car trains. In 1992, the old station was transformed into a maintenance area, and in 2007, a new studio for MP 05 trains opened on its tracks.
  • Since 1988, there has been a transition to the Neuilly - Port Mayo station of the C RER line .
  • The passenger traffic at the station at the entrance in 2012, according to the RATP , amounted to 8913838 people [4] . In 2013, this indicator grew 8998134 passengers (23rd place in terms of the input passenger flow in the Paris metro) [5] .

Perspectives

It is planned to build a transition to the future Neuilly - Port Mayo station of the E RER line as part of the extension of its central section. [6] [7]

Track Development

  • To the west of the station, the track development of the sludge and maintenance point, built in 1936 during the reconstruction of the station, ends. This point occupies the middle paths between the main tracks of most of the Le Sablon - Port Mayo stretch, but at the same time, its track development continues in the station hall.
  • The adjoining path of the Mayo studio (former headland) is located in the middle of the Port Mayo - Arzhantin section .
