History

It was created in 1922. Since its inception, he has been operating underground with the Romanian Communist Party , of which he was a part. The organizational structure is modeled on the Soviet Komsomol . Since 1924 it was a member of the Communist International of Youth . He actively participated in the communist labor movement, fought against fascism and militarism , organized a youth movement for the overthrow of the royal power in Romania, in support of the USSR.

It became a mass movement in 1944, after the Red Army entered the territory of Romania and the RCP became a legal party. Since 1948, the Romanian Workers' Party (the future RCP) began the process of merging the country's youth organizations - political, professional, religious, cultural, etc. Starting in 1945, many members of anti-communist organizations were arrested, liberal youth, peasants, railway guards and other political and religious youth organizations were closed.

The reform of education in 1948 laid the foundation for the ideological re-education of youth and the sovietization of the education system by restructuring it on the basis of Marxist-Leninist principles. In the same year, the party recommended the Komsomol the formation of a single youth organization. At the congress on March 19-21, 1949, individual youth organizations were united, as a result the Union of Working Youth of Romania (Uniunea Tineretului Muncitoresc; UTM) was created. This name remained until 1965.

Admission to the CCMR has been carried out since the age of 14.

After Nicolae Ceausescu came to power in 1965, he pursued the goal of comprehensive expansion of mass organizations, trying to include the maximum number of people in communist structures. Thus, while in 1960 the UTM numbered 1.9 million members, in 1966 there were 2.250.000 members of the SCMR, in 1971 there were already 2.4 million, in 1985 - 3.9 million members , and 4.1 million by the end of the 1980s.

SKMR was one of the most powerful public organizations in Romania.

After the Romanian revolution of 1989, the SKMR was dissolved and ceased to exist.
