The city of Prizren is located on the Balkan Peninsula at the foot of the Shar Planina Mountains in Southern Metohija . According to the administrative-territorial division of Serbia is the administrative center of the Prizren district of the autonomous region of Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija . According to the administrative-territorial division of the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo , which actually controls the city, it is the administrative center of the Prizrensky District of the Republic of Kosovo .
The Prizren community has borders with Albania and the Republic of Macedonia . The city was the historical capital of the Serbian Empire [1] .
Geographical characteristics
The Prizren community has an area of 640 km² (5.94% of the territory of Kosovo) [2] and is located in the southwestern part of Kosovo , it includes 76 settlements with 220,776 inhabitants, of which about 110,000 live in Prizren [3] .

- Korisha (6000 people)
- Jonai (5300 people) [4]
A good geographical position, nature, objects of historical and cultural heritage are the basis of tourism in the Prizren community [5] .
The relief of Prizren is generally hilly. Altitude ranges from 300 to 2600 m within the boundaries of the community. While the city center is located on a plain, there are many hills on the western and especially eastern suburbs of the community.
Forests in the Prizren community are rich in endemic plants. Heldrich's pine is common [6] .
The total area of the Prizren community is 63,986 ha. Of these, 53% are agricultural land, 39% are forests, 8% are others.
Rivers
The largest river in the Prizren community is Bely Drin (175 km). Prizrenska Bistrita , which flows through the center of Prizren, is shorter (18 km). All rivers of the community belong to the White Drin basin. The Topluga River has the greatest flood hazard. [7]
Borders
The Prizren community borders with such communities as: Djakovica , Orahovac , Strpce , Suva Reka , Dragaš and with the states of Albania and the Republic of Macedonia .
Climate
The climate of the Prizren community is diverse. The lowlands are strongly influenced by the Mediterranean climate, and the summer months are very hot. Alpine climate prevails in mountainous areas, even in June there is snow in some places.
