Staropoli was born on January 9, 1970 in Trieste , Italy . He learned to play the piano from the age of eight, at the age of fifteen he also mastered the electric guitar and synthesizer . He was fond of the technique of controlling consciousness, went to meditation courses, where in 1990 he met Luca Turilli . Together with Turilli and drummer Daniele Carboner, in 1993 he became the founder of the Thundercross band, soon renamed Rhapsody, and then Rhapsody of Fire. From the very beginning, he became one of the two main composers of the group, creating “orchestral” arrangements of their songs. Staropoli participated in all seven albums of the group and currently has no solo projects.
Alex's brother, Manuel Staropoli, is a flutist who has repeatedly participated in Rhapsody albums and concerts as a session musician.
