Description
Annual or perennial grasses , or shrubs . Leaves are opposite.
The flowers are small, five-dimensional, collected in dichasia , rarely solitary. 5 sepals , pointed, with a thickened middle vein and membranous margin; petals 5. Stamens 5-10. The ovary is ovate, 5 (6) -articular. Seeds are oblong, slightly bent.
The main number of chromosomes : x = 6.
