History

The settlement from which the city later grew was founded in 1751 . The municipality of Santa Ana was separated into a separate administrative unit in 1918 .

The city is located in the southern part of the department, on the right bank of the Mompos sleeve of the Magdalena River , approximately 213 kilometers southwest (SSW) from Santa Marta , the administrative center of the Magdalena department. The absolute height is 25 meters above sea ​​level [1] .
The municipality of Santa Ana borders in the north with the territories of the municipalities of Ariguany , Nueva Granada and Plateau , in the north-west with the municipality of Santa Barbara de Pinto , in the southeast with the municipalities of San Cenon and Pihinho del Carmen , in the south-west - with the territory of the department of Bolivar , in the east - with the territory of the department of Cesar . Economics
