Career

As a player, he demonstrated significant achievements, but at the age of 22 he was forced to stop performing due to a serious knee injury. He began his coaching career in 1960 as an assistant coach in the college team Alan Hancock, and a couple of years later headed it on his own.

Madden achieved the greatest success as a coach at the head of the Auckland Raiders , where he came in 1967 as a mentor to linebackers , in 1969 accepted the club as head coach and with whom he won the XI 1976 Super Bowl . For the team, this victory was the first in history, and for Madden a record - at 42, he became the youngest mentor to win a trophy. [1] . At the end of his coaching career, John Madden focused on working as a sports commentator and expert on football programs on radio and TV. Madden worked as an analyst for all four major networks: CBS (1979-1993), Fox (1994-2001), ABC (2002-2005) [2] and NBC (2006-2009). He spent his last broadcast on April 16, 2009, explaining that he wanted to spend more time with his wife Virginia (married since 1959 [3] ) and his family. [four]

Since 1988, the Madden NFL video game series bearing the name of the trainer has been produced and enjoyed popularity. [5] [6]

In 2006, he was inducted into the American Football Hall of Fame. [7]

Madden is also the author of popular books on American football.
