The Principality of Sperling ( Italian Principato di Sperlinga , French Principauté de Sperlinga ) is a feudal state that occupied the southern tip of Italy . It was created in 1597 for Giovanni Natoli I (Prince Sperling) , the eldest son of Blasco Lanz, as part of a peace agreement between him and his younger brother. The Principality lasted until 1658, ruled by various dynasties.
