Peeter Mudist ( Est. Peeter Mudist ; April 19, 1942 , Tallinn - December 6, 2013 ) - Estonian artist , sculptor and printmaster . His works received numerous awards [1] [2] [3] . He was also a member of the Estonian Union of Artists.

Biography

Peeter Mudist was born on April 19, 1942 in Tallinn . In 1960 he graduated from Tallinn Secondary School No. 1 [4] . Since 1960, he studied at the Energy Department of the Tallinn Polytechnic Institute , but in 1963 left the fourth year. In the same year he entered the State Institute of Arts of the Estonian SSR and graduated in 1967 with a degree in painting [5] .

After graduation, he changed several jobs. In 1971-1979 he worked at the Tallinn Art Products Factory “ARS”, in 1979-1981 he taught at the Tallinn Pedagogical Institute [5] .

Since 1968 he took part in art exhibitions [5] . In 1972 he joined the Union of Artists of Estonia . Since 1982 he became a freelance artist [1] .

Peeter Mudist is read by one of the best painters in Estonia [6] . The motives of his paintings are mostly recognizable enough: people, flowers, landscapes. His later works became increasingly abstract [7] . He is also the author of a number of graphic works and sculptures. He was also engaged in writing, in 2002 he published the book “Ratsukäik” (“Horseback Riding”) with thoughts on life [6] .

In 1989, Peeter Mudist was awarded the Kristjan Raud Art Prize, in 1991 he was awarded the Konrad Mägi Medal, in 1995 he was awarded the Baltic Cultural Prize [8] , and in 2001 became a holder of the Order of the White Star of the III degree [1] .

Peeter Mudist died on the morning of December 6, 2013 from Parkinson's disease at the age of 71 [1] . He was buried at the Rahumäe cemetery in Tallinn [9] .
