Iranian Students Information Agency (ISNA)

Iranian Students 'News Agency (ISNA ) - Iranian news agency founded November 4, 1999 [1] . Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) .

Most of ISNA's reporters and editors are students studying at Iranian universities, many of whom work at the agency on a voluntary basis. ISNA receives financial support from the Government of Iran and the Iranian Center for Academic Research ( Pers. جهاد دانشگاهی ).

ISNA publishes news in Persian, English, French and Arabic. The main office of ISNA is located in Tehran.

History

Iranian Students Information Agency was created in November 1999 at the suggestion of Abolfazl Fateh, the former head of the Tehran University Students Association, originally to cover various topics related to student life in Iran. [2] Fateh was the editor-in-chief of ISNA, he established the agency’s motto, which is still valid today: “Every student is a journalist”. Currently, ISNA's activities cover a wide range of topics, including international ones. Western media consider ISNA one of Iran’s most independent news agencies. [3] ISNA, before other Iranian news agencies, began to use the power of the Internet to facilitate access to news material for the target audience.

Organizational

- The agency’s board of directors includes the head of the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (as the chairman of the board of directors), the deputy head of the Academic Center for Cultural Affairs, the general director of the news agency and two people from the Academic Center on the proposal of the center’s head [4] .

- Chief editorial council: the council consists of the chairman of the chief editorial council, the deputy for cultural affairs, the chief editor of the agency and two representatives of the Iranian center for academic research proposed by the director of the center.

- Administrative divisions: news department; information technology and technical support; education; material support; executive department.

- Information departments: scientific and technical; social; economic; political; international; cultural; sports; photo agency .
