The filtration camp of the NKVD No. 188 - special institutions for checking persons who were in German captivity or in occupied territory. It was organized in January 1942 , from March 20, 1942 it was called "Special Camp No. 188" [1] and until January 1945 . It was located 15 km from Tambov (and five kilometers from the Rada station).

Camp History
The camp was organized in January 1942 [1] . The original purpose of the camp was for the soldiers of the Red Army, who were captured by the Germans. Since December 1942, prisoners of war were captured in the camp after the battle of Stalingrad . The total number of internees in the camp was about 18,000 men, more than six thousand were killed. Among the prisoners of war there were people of different nationalities and countries - Germans, Italians, French, Austrians, Hungarians, Poles, Romanians, Czechs, Serbs, Croats, Luxembourgers, Belgians, Swiss, Danes, Norwegians, Swedes, British, Americans [2] According to the report I. Skvortsov, head of the accounting department of the senior lieutenant of state security, sent on March 17, 1945 to the head of camp No. 188:
I’m informing you that, starting in January 1945, acts of burial of prisoners of war are not provided. By virtue of which the materials on the dead in / pl. not fully executed, which is reminded of the camp management department. I ask for your instructions on the timely preparation and submission to the accounting department of acts on buried prisoners of war ... [2]
On August 8, 1998, at the burial places of prisoners of war near the Rada station, a memorial cemetery was inaugurated. The opening was attended by war veterans, diplomats, military attaches from a number of countries - Austria , Germany , Italy , Poland , Hungary, Czech Republic, France [2] .
