River
The Yang River is formed 13 km south of Shipova between Babich and Stroitsa villages [1] by the confluence of several tributaries at an altitude of 612 m. In the upstream, it flows into a deep canyon whose steep cliffs reach 200 m. It flows northward to Shipova.
9 km from the city are the Yansky Islands - a valley about 1 km long, where Yang is poured into numerous channels, which are then connected again. Yan Islands are a popular tourist destination. Yany River Canyon is a protected natural area of the Republika Srpska . Yang flows into Pliva about 1 km south-east of Shipova at an altitude of 440 meters. The canyon of the Yan River is composed of Mesozoic limestone . In the valley of Jani is a Roman monument carved into the rock.
The Yan River is extremely rich in trout and grayling , making it popular with anglers. The river is also a source of drinking water for the Shipovo community.
