Historical background

The stone Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the village of Bogorodsky was built in the mid 1790s. commissioned by a retired colonel, Prince V.M. Golitsyna (1731 - 1789). Prince Vasily and his wife Maria Alekseevna had four sons and eleven daughters. The construction of the temple was funded by one of the daughters of Prince Vasily - Barbara. Varvara Vasilyevna was brought up at the Smolny Institute and was married to Lieutenant General V.V. Unfriendly.

The church was consecrated only in 1816. Its architecture gives reason to think that when drawing up the project, the Golitsyn manor church in the village was taken as a model. Kurki (now the village of Kurtino, Stupino district).

In 1856, through the efforts of the local landowner M.S. At the place of the narthex and the gallery connecting the church with a separate bell tower, a two-pillar refectory with a southern aisle was erected by Bulgakova in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The temple is built in the Baroque style. The pillar-shaped bell tower of three fours and a cylindrical upper tier, stylistically close to mature classicism, is inferior in beauty to the main elements of the building. Altar apse square. Nearby are the remains of an old cemetery.

Before the revolution, a parish school operated at the church, where children from all surrounding villages went to study. And to this day, the former school park with rare trees has survived, among which you can even see a spreading walnut - a southern plant that does not take root well in our area.

On August 5, 1893, in the village of Bogorodsky, in the family of priest John Solovyov, the now-glorified holy martyr Alexander Solovyov was born. At the end of two classes of the Moscow Theological Seminary, Alexander Solovyov served as a psalmist of the Intercession Church p. Tashirova, then in the village of Slepushkin of the Naro-Fominsk district of the Moscow region. In1921, he was ordained a priest of the temple with. Queen of the Samara province. In 1924, Fr. Alexander is assigned to the Transfiguration church with. Sklyadneva (Volokolamsk district). Here, on October 9, 1937, on charges of agitation aimed at disrupting work on a collective farm, he was arrested, and on November 5 of the same year, he was shot.

The priest of the Bogorodsk church Sergiy Dobrov suffered from repressions. Father Sergius was an active, energetic man who worked hard on the field of church education. He was born in 1875 in the family of a priest. In 1897 he graduated from Bethany Seminary and was appointed teacher of the parish school of the Kolomna village of Podberezniki. In 1898, Sergius Dobrov was ordained a priest, in 1899 he was appointed to the post of law teacher at the Bogorodsky elementary zemstvo school. In 1910, Fr. Sergius was approved as a member of the Kolomna branch of the Moscow Diocesan School Council, in 1911 as an assistant to the Dean of the 3rd District of Kolomensky Uyezd, and in 1915 as a candidate for the position of member of the board of the Kolomensky Theological College. About. Sergius and his wife Elizabeth Ivanovna had four children. In the mid 1930s Priest Sergius Dobrov repressed. After the arrest of the head priest, the villagers quickly destroyed it.

Current status

In the mid-1990s the church in a dilapidated form was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church. The first liturgy was served on October 18, 2003, on the feast day of St. Sergius of Radonezh. Currently, the roof, rotunda, dome with a cross and brickwork, windows and doors have been completely restored.

In January 2010, the dome of the bell tower with the central part was restored, and a cross was erected on it for the Epiphany.

In 2011 - 2012, special zeal was applied in order to make the entrance to the temple more convenient - work was underway on the construction of the road and dam. Near the temple is the source of St. Sergius of Radonezh. In the years when the temple was in desolation, it was also abandoned and bombarded with garbage. When the church life began to revive in the church, they gradually restored it: they made a canopy, arranged steps. And in 2013, with the efforts of philanthropist Vyacheslav Potapenko, a bathhouse was built at the source, the territory was paved, a wooden staircase was made. On the day of memory of St. Sergius, Father Vladimir, with the clergy, in the presence of the villagers, guests from Kolomna and summer residents, solemnly consecrated the bathhouse. This event took place on the eve of two important anniversary dates: the 700th anniversary of St. Sergius of Radonezh in 2014 and the 200th anniversary of the church in 2016.

On October 5, 2013, a gold-laden cross was erected on the central dome of the Mother of God Church. Made even before the revolution, he survived not the best of times - he was repeatedly shot by blasphemers. In 2003, it was sealed up, and 10 years later, at the expense of the parish of the Trinity Church, the dome of the church was updated, and the cross is gilded. September 21, on the feast day of the Mother of God Church, the renewed cross was consecrated. Two weeks later, the cross was installed on the head. People gathered on this day for a subbotnik, and under the singing of the troparion “Save, Lord, your people ...” the cross was erected.

By the fall of 2014, the exterior decoration of the temple was completely completed, and in 2015, the main forces were sent to restore the side of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. At the moment it is completely plastered, the choirs have been restored and an iconostasis project has been developed, the installation of which is planned to be completed by Easter. Construction work is carried out not only in the temple, and the area near it is being actively landscaped. Thus, the temple, revived from ruins, is practically prepared for the Great Consecration, the order of which is planned to be performed this summer in honor of its 200th anniversary.

Transfiguring externally, the temple comes to life also internally: services are celebrated here on holidays, Sunday school classes are held at Bogorodsky at the Trinity Church on Repn, sometimes people with disabilities come here to pray and enjoy the life-giving silence of this place. For several years, summer youth camps were held here, the participants of which contributed all possible assistance in the restoration of the temple. This place is very fond of artists and photographers - inspiration awakens here and you want to create beautiful paintings.

Clergy: Rector - Archpriest Vladimir Pakhachev [1] .
