Battle of the Kings
At the Gorky Bridge tournament, Brienne took revenge on her unsuccessful boyfriends - in a general battle, she sought out her boyfriends and beat them one by one: “Farrow, Ambrose, Bysshe, Mark Mullendor, Raymond Neiland, Will-Crane. She knocked down Harry Sawyer with a horse, Robin Potter broke her helmet, adorning the knight with a huge scar. ” Among others, Brienne caught Ronnet Connington and Loras Tyrell, who didn’t take part in the bet - the first Brienne remembered by unsuccessful matchmaking, “and every blow delivered to him was sweeter than a kiss for her,” the second, who never even looked at Brienna, was guilty of nothing but golden roses on the billboard, Brienne hated these flowers, and "just seeing them filled her with frantic power."
Katilin Stark watched the last fights, not knowing yet that the armed knight in blue armor on the black stallion was a woman, and wondering why the audience was so dissatisfied with the victories of the blue knight. Brienne knocked out Ronnet Connington from the saddle with a mace - at this point four knights remained in the general battle, counting Brienne, and two of them (apparently Robin and Harry) tried to attack her from two sides, but both were beaten, while Brienne broke shield, hitting them in the face of one of the attackers and breaking his helmet. Loras Tyrell attacked her with a tournament ax, showering with blows, and contrived to knock out the mace from Brienne without a hand. Left without a shield and without a weapon, Brienne nevertheless managed to gain the upper hand - when Loras flew on for the last blow, Brienne pulled out an ax from his bare hands and fell out of the saddle with him, crushing under herself, and then forced the dagger under the threat give up. King Renly proclaimed Brienne Tarte the winner of the big tournament battle at Gorky Bridge, the last remaining in the saddle of one hundred and sixteen knights. Her last victory in the tournament, over Loras Tyrell, secured her a place in the Rainbow Guard under the name Brienne Sinaya.
Together with Renly, she went to lift the siege from the Storm Reach, arranged by King Stannis Baratheon. She was the flag bearer of Renly in the negotiations, and after them was appointed to carry the royal banner at the forefront of the army under the command of Loras Tyrell in the upcoming battle. She dressed King Renley in armor when he was killed by a witch's shadow; Renly died right in front of Brienne in his arms, and it was she and Katilyn Stark who were accused of murder. With her, Brienne fled to Riverran. She vowed revenge on Stannis, but Lady Stark convinced her to go to her service.
Storm of Swords
After Lady Stark decided to release Jaime Lannister with the aim of exchanging him for her daughters, Brienne was chosen by her as the bodyguard of Sir Jaime and the accompanying Sir Cleos Frey. At first, they rafted down the Trident, so they managed to escape from the chase when Brienne threw stones at her pursuers. Later they changed the boat to horses and continued their journey to King's Landing, but near Maidenpool fell into a robbery ambush. Ser Cleos was killed, Ser Jaime, capturing his sword, tried to take advantage of the situation and kill Brienne, but she defeated him. Immediately after that, they were captured by the Brave Guys, who chopped off Jaime's hand and intended to rape Brienne, but her innocence saved Jaime by shouting "Sapphires", hinting to the mercenaries about the rich ransom for Brienne from Sapphire Island.
Both, Jaime and Brienne, were brought to Harrenhall to Lord Bolton, the standard bearer of Starks, who, however, was only true to his own advantage. Sending Jaime to the Royal Harbor, he decided to leave Brienne to the mercenaries who wanted to receive a rich ransom for her. Brienne, however, was not a complaisant and bit off their captain Vargo Hout's ear. In response, he threw her in a dress and with a tournament sword in the pit to the bear. She was rescued by the returning Jaime and along with him continued her journey to King's Landing. During their journey, the Red Wedding took place and its mission turned out to be meaningless, so she felt that she had failed a second person to whom she had sworn allegiance.
When Brienne arrived at King's Landing, Loras Tyrell, who was there in connection with the wedding of his sister Margery and King Joffrey, accused her of killing Renley, but Jaime, the new Lord Commander of the White Guard, ordered her to be taken into custody, thereby saving the girl from reprisals. After Jaime was able to dissuade Loras of his desire to take revenge, Brienne received freedom and a sword from the Valyrian steel Faithful to the Oath (or the Keeper of Vows, English Oathkeeper). Jaime took the oath from Brienne that she would certainly find Sansa Stark and return her to her family, thereby fulfilling the oath made by both Lady Katilyn Stark.
Vulture Feast
After interrogating the handmaid of Sansa Brell and other inhabitants of the Royal Harbor, she came to the conclusion that Lady Sansa escaped with the jester Sir Dontos, so she went in search of Twilight Dol through Rosby. Under the road, she met another seeker of Sansa (and the reward promised for her head), Sir Shadrik. In Twilight Dol, she got a lead after hearing from a dwarf sparrow a story about a jester looking for a ship in Maiden Pond. Reasoning that it was Dontos, she went there. On the way, she realized that she was being watched from Royal Harbor itself. Her persecutor was Podric Payne, the squire of Lady Sansa's husband, Tyrion Lannister, who was also looking for Sansa Stark in the hope of finding her husband, who also disappeared. In Maiden Pond, they met with Ser Siley Hunt, one of those who tried to get her virginity under the walls of Highgarden. He led them to Lord Randall Tarley, who had taken over the city. There she found Dick Crab, and he told her how he had outwitted the jester who was looking for a place on a ship for three in the Free Cities. For a fee, he agreed to bring Brienne and Podric to the jester and his friends. However, the buffoon turned out to be Shagwell from the Brave Guys, and his friends turned out to be Timon-Dornier and Pig from the same company. They killed Dick, but Brienne managed to defeat them. It later turned out that on the orders of Lord Tarley, Hyle Hunt had been following her in case she found Sansa.
Upon her return, Lord Tarley again insistently advised her to return to her father, saying that she had proved what she wanted to prove. Before his death, Thimeon said that the daughter of Katylyn Stark is with Dog, and Brienne decided to look in this direction. Together with Podrik and Hail Hunt and Septon Meribald, who joined them, they went to the Saltworks. In front of the Saltworks, they stopped on a quiet island, a monastery whose brothers keep a vow of silence. The local abbot told her that Sandor had not Sansa, but Arya Stark and that the Dog had died.
Having reached an impasse, she continued her campaign with Septon through the river Lands in the hope of meeting Arya or Sansa. On the way, they stopped at the Cross Tavern, where by chance at the same time a gang of False Dog, Roge, came. In a fierce duel, he was killed by Brienna, but then his “son” Kusaka attacked Brienne and literally began to eat her until he was killed by the blacksmith Jendry, a member of the Brotherhood without the Banner, who owned the inn. The wounded Brienne was transported to the leader of the fraternity, Lady Stoneheart, who mysteriously revived Katylyn Stark. She condemned Brienne as a traitor and offered her a choice: the life of Jaime or her own, "sword or noose." Brienne refused and was hanged with her companions.
Panting, Brienne managed to shout out one word, although it is not known which one. According to the most popular version, it was the word “sword” - consent to kill Jaime Lannister; other versions included Stannis (Katilin once promised she would not stop Brienne from killing Stannis Baratheon), Jaime, sapphires, etc. At the MisCon festival in 2012, Martin confirmed that Brienna's word shouted was “the sword,” and that the motive for this decision was to save Podric Payne from the loop.
Dragon Dance
Near the village of Pennitri Brienne - alone, with the Faithful Oath in the scabbard - I went to meet the scouts Jaime Lannister and demanded to bring her to the commander. Jaime noticed that Brienne did not look well and aged ten years. Brienne told him that Sansa Stark was found and is on the bottom of the road from here, but Jaime will have to go alone, otherwise Dog will kill the girl.
Winter Winds
Jaime Lannister left with Brienne Tart and went missing, apparently falling into the hands of the Brotherhood without the Banner and rebelled from the dead Katileen Stark , determined to take revenge on him. [3] [4]
Initially, the head of Brienne Tart was supposed to be present in the book " Dance with the Dragons ", but later it was transferred to the book "Winds of Winter".
In film adaptation
In the television series Game of Thrones , the role of Brienne Tart is played by British actress Gwendolyn Christie .
Brienne's storyline in the series differs from the storyline starting in the fourth season. In the books, Brienne could not go either on the trail of Arya or on the trail of Sansa, respectively, she was never in the immediate vicinity of Winterfell. After leaving Royal Harbor, Brienne began to search the Riverlands, where she remained at the end of the fifth book. [five]
Season Four
Starting from the fourth season, Brienne's storyline is very seriously different from the book. At the end of the season on a tip of the Pie, she and Podrik overtake Arya and Dog, but she refuses to go with Brienna, having learned that Jaime Lannister gave her a sword. Brienna engages in a scuffle with Kligan, which very quickly turns from a sword fight into a fight with her bare hands. However, Brienne manages to defeat the Dog in battle and throw him off a cliff, causing him severe injuries. For some time after this, she tries in vain to find Arya, but she runs.
Fifth Season
In the fifth season, Brienne meets Sansa, who goes with Petyr to Winterfell. The girl refuses her help, but Brienne secretly follows her to Winterfell.
On the way to the north, she tells Podrick Payne a different story from Renly Baratheon from the book story. When she was a girl, in order to find a party for Brienne, her only surviving child, Lord Selvin set up a ball where he invited young lords from all over Westeros. The girl did not want to go, but her father forcibly dragged her into the hall. And, according to her, everything was wonderful. The boys did not seem to notice how tall and ugly she was, they threatened each other with a duel for the sake of dancing with her. She was happy until she noticed that the boys were just laughing at her, calling them "Brien Beauty." She burst into tears and wanted to run away, but Renley stopped her. He told her that these scum were not worth her tears and danced with her until the end of the evening. None of the boys laughed anymore and could not say anything - after all, Renly was the king's brother.
At Winterfell, she sends a message to Sansa so that if she needs help, light a candle in the window of the ruined tower.
When the girl realizes that she can no longer endure Ramsey's bullying, she asks Stinker to do this, since she herself is locked in the room. But the will of former Theon Greyjoy is so broken that he with a candle goes straight to Ramsey. He rips off the skin of an old woman who gave Brienna a message to Sansa, but she does not tell him anything.
Brienne continues to look at the tower every day, expecting to see the light. But, a few seconds before Sansa, this time having run away from the room herself, lighting a candle, the woman leaves, as Podrik informs her that Stannis came up to the castle.
After an unequal battle in which Ramsey Bolton defeated, Brienne finds the wounded Stannis in the forest. She introduces herself and condemns him to death on behalf of Renly. Stannis is so desperate after the death of his wife, daughter and the loss of the army that he is ready to die. He utters the last words: “Do your duty.” Brienne lowers the sword.
Sixth season
At the very beginning of season 6, she saved along with Podrik Sansu and Theon from the chase sent by the Bolton. She told Sanse about a meeting with Arya and became a witness to her breakup with Theon. Accompanied along with Podrik Sansu to the Wall. In an interview with Davos and Melisandra, she confirmed the death of Stannis Baratheon, saying that she killed him immediately after he admitted that he had killed his brother Renley. She witnessed John Snow receiving a threatening letter from Ramsey. Present at a conversation between Sansa and Littlefinger. She took part in the military council of the Black Castle. By order of Sansa, along with Podrik, she went to negotiations with Brinden Tully, which were unsuccessful. As in the book “Dance with the Dragons,” she again met with Jaime Lannister, but unlike the book, this happened before the conquest of Riverran. During a meeting with the Regicide, she tried to return the Faithful Oath to him. Was saved in Riverran by Brinden Tully. I went along with Podrik along the Trident River.
Seventh Season
At the beginning of season 7, Brienne Tart reunites with Sansa Stark in Winterfell. In the final of season 7, she participated in negotiations with Cersei, having met Dog and Jaime at them.
Season
At the beginning of the final season, Brienne Tart reunites with Sansa Stark in Winterfell [6] . Jaime knights Brienne before the battle with the white walkers. After the battle, Jaime and Brienne spend the night together, but Jaime returns to Royal Harbor to Cersei.
