Abstract Fazilovich Appazov ( Crimean-Tat. Refat Fazıl oğlu Appazov, Refat Fazyl oglu Appazov ; 1920 , Simferopol - 2008 , Korolev ) - Soviet and Russian scientist of Crimean Tatar origin. Doctor of technical sciences , professor , laureate of the USSR State Prize (1980) [1] . Under the leadership of S.P. Korolyov, he worked at OKB-1 on the space program of the USSR .

Biography
He was born on September 8, 1920 in Simferopol [2] in the family of Crimean Tatars [1] . First he studied at the Tatar eight-year school, and then moved to the Yalta Russian ten-year school [1] . In 1939 he graduated from high school and entered the Faculty of Ammunition MVTU im. Bauman [3] . During the Great Patriotic War, together with the institute, I spent a year and a half in Izhevsk , where, in parallel with my studies, I worked as a milling machine operator at a factory [1] . During the deportation of the Crimean Tatars, Appazov was far from home, so she did not affect him [3] .
In 1946, he graduated and was sent to work in Kaliningrad (now Korolev ) near Moscow at the former artillery factory, which was transformed into the Research Institute for Missile Technology. He went on a business trip to Germany to study the German V-2 rockets, where he met with the chief designer of OKB-1 S.P. Korolev [3] . He worked under his leadership on the space program of the USSR. In 1961-1988 he was the head of the ballistics department of NPO Energia [1] . From 1959 to 1993 he taught at the Moscow Aviation Institute [4] .
He participated in the creation of the R-1 ballistic missile, the first Soviet missile with an atomic charge, the first artificial Earth satellite, the first intercontinental missile. He was engaged in the preparation of the first manned space flight, worked on the first communication satellites, on projects of flights to the Moon, Venus and Mars, on manned and transport ships, on the Energy-Buran program [3] .
Since 1987, he took an active part in the Crimean Tatar national movement . In 1990-1991, he worked in the State Commission on Crimean Tatars, chaired by V. Kh. Doguzhiev . In 1991 he was a delegate of the Kurultay of the Crimean Tatar people . In 1991-1995 he was a member of the presidium of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people [4] . Later he was a member of the Board of the community of Crimean Tatars in Moscow. In 2001, his book of memoirs, “Traces in the Heart and Memory”, was published [3] .
He died in Korolyov on April 18, 2008 . He was buried in Crimea , according to his will [5] .
