Biography
William Ambrose Jones was born July 21, 1865 in Cambridge, New York. [1] March 15, 1890 was ordained a priest for the Order of St. Augustine , of which he was a member.
On January 12, 1907, Pope Pius X appointed him Bishop of Puerto Rico. On February 24, 1907, his consecration took place, led by Archbishop Giuseppe Aversa, an Aostolic nuncio in Cuba. He was accompanied by Pedro Ladislao González y Estrada, Bishop of San Cristobal de la Havana and Antonio Aurelio Torresi i Sans, O.B.K. , Bishop of Cienfuegos.
On March 16, 1907, William Ambrose Jones arrived in Puerto Rico. He served in the hierarchy until his death on February 17, 1921. His remains lie in the in San Juan [1] .
