The early years

Born in Bucharest , but spent his childhood in the neighboring village of Dobroyesti. His father worked in a rural bar, and his mother was a saleswoman for a kiosk [2] . At the age of six and a half years, he began to play football at the youth school of the Faur club in Bucharest [2] .

Career

In 1992, Mitu began his football career with his native Faur team, the next year he joined the Steaua team. Then he played in such lesser-known teams as Farul Constanta, UTA Arad , until in the 1996-1997 season he moved to Osijek . He soon became the star of this club. After 159 games and 26 goals for FC Osijek and seven years spent in the club, he moved to the Croatian club Dynamo Zagreb , with whom he won four national championships [3] . Then it was bought by the Greek Panathinaikos , where Mitu played 6 matches, mainly in the UEFA Champions League .

Shortly after playing in the UEFA Champions League for Panathinaikos, he returned to Croatia to the club of Rijeka . Having played there one season, he returned to Dynamo Zagreb, where he became the champion of the First League. Then he returned to Romania to the CFR club. There he played 12 matches and scored one goal, in the next season the leadership of the CFR decided to cancel the contract with Mitu.

Since the 2006-2007 season, he has played in the Chinese Super League for the Chinese football club Qingdao Zhongnen . Since then he has been a free agent.

Mitu has dual citizenship of Romania and Croatia. He received Croatian citizenship in 2003 [2] .
