Biography
Born on April 15, 1923 in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, in a working class family. Russian. Graduated 8 classes. He worked as a turner in the factory.
In June 1942 he was drafted into the Red Army. On the front since December 1942. He received baptism of fire in battles in the Kuban. The whole war was part of the 109th Separate Guards reconnaissance company of the 128th Guards Turkestan Mountain Rifle Division. He participated in the battles for the liberation of the North Caucasus, Crimea, Czechoslovakia Poland. War ended in Germany.
On August 10, 1943, in the area of the stanitsa of Krymskaya (now the city of Krymsk, Krasnodar Territory), the Red Army guard Kalinin, guarding the enemy’s counterattacks, replaced the machine gunner who had been out of action and destroyed many of the Nazis.
By order of June 28, 1944, the Red Army soldier Nikolay Ivanovich Kalinin was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree (No. 109323).
On December 25, 1944, 18 kilometers east of the city of Kosice (Czechoslovakia) of the Guard, Red Army soldier Kalinin, as part of a reconnaissance group, penetrated into the rear of the enemy, suddenly burst into his trench, eliminated the machine-gun crew and captured the “language” that gave valuable information.
By order of January 31, 1945, the Red Army soldier Kalinin Nikolai Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree (No. 22244).
On February 15, 1945, the guard sergeant Kalinin, already the commander of the branch of the same company, in difficult conditions of the mountain-wooded area in the area of the city of ецywiec (Poland) within the reconnaissance group penetrated the enemy’s rear to a depth of 15 kilometers and observed for 3 days for the movement of his troops, equipment and firing positions. Valuable information in a timely manner handed over to the command.
In the battles for Berlin he was wounded, for the fourth time during the war. Victory Day met at the hospital.
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 29, 1945, senior sergeant Kalinin Nikolai Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Glory, 1st Degree (No. 818) for the exemplary performance of command assignments in battles with the Nazi invaders of the Guards. Became a full gentleman of the Order of Glory.
In 1945 he was demobilized. He returned to his native city of Baku. In 1956 he graduated from the Baku Maritime Technical School. He worked as a ship mechanic in the South District Oil and Gas Department of Morflot. In the late 1990s, he moved to the city of Belgorod. Until the last day, he led an active life, met with schoolchildren, corresponded and met with fellow soldiers. He died on February 3, 2009.
