Early Years and Education
Victor was born in s. Nedashki Malininsky district of Zhytomyr region of the USSR (the territory of modern Ukraine).
At the age of 15, he moved to Moscow and entered the Moscow Art and Industrial School named after Kalinin (since 1991, is part of the Moscow Art and Industry Academy named after S. G. Stroganov ), where he studied drawing with Ivan Efremov.
After graduating from the College in 1982, he was drafted into the army in the Air Force at the Air Force Academy in Monino near Moscow to a team of artists who served the educational process, under the supervision of twice Hero of the Soviet Union military pilot Marshal Nikolai Skomorokhov .
After the army, Victor studied at the Moscow Technological Institute (in 2007 it was renamed the Russian State University of Tourism and Service ) at the art department in the department of ceramics (1986-1989), under the guidance of the famous Russian animalist Evgeny Nikolaev .
Creativity
In his senior years at the Institute, Viktor, together with his wife Ida Zheleznova, began to exhibit his works in Moscow, and soon met Naum Olev (a famous poet, connoisseur of contemporary Russian art, the creator of the Zero gallery), who soon bought up all of Victor’s works and Ides for participating in international art shows, including TIAS (Tokyo International Art Session).
In 1990, Victor and his wife lived mainly in the Odessa region and traveled extensively in the Crimea in their rare ZIM Gaz-12 car. During one of his trips to Cape Tarkhankut, Victor created the “Museum”, his first “stone” style canvas, using fancy ancient stones found there. Soon the “Museum” was included in the triptych “Museum Visitor”. The first version of the triptych is in a private collection in Chicago, USA, the second is in the Kozmodemyansk Museum of Art and History .
In 1997, the Kozmodemyansk Art and History Museum invited Victor to write several copies of famous artists, including Gypsy by K. Makovsky , Niagara Falls by I. Aivazovsky and Naked N. Feshin . The last one hung for about a year in the exhibition hall of the Museum next to the original, and was later acquired by the managing director of the Ministry of Culture of Russia I. B. Porto.
In 1998, Victor returned to Moscow, where he continued to work in the "stone" style, replenishing his extensive collection of semiprecious and unusual stones, shells, fossils, and various cultural artifacts. Soon he created the first version of his Don Quixote. A canvas measuring 143 x 145 cm was purchased by a private collector from Chicago.
Victor continued to exhibit his work in Moscow and foreign galleries, as well as to paint on order for museums and private collectors until 2005. In 2005, due to the serious illness of his wife Ida, his life changed a lot. He was forced to stop all exhibition activities in order to be able to care for his wife, sometimes even working as a nurse.
When Ida’s health improved, Victor switched to monumental art: painting the interiors of Orthodox churches, including using the unique mosaic stained glass technique he created. Among his recent works it is worth noting:
- restoration of the Temple of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God in the village of Chetryakovo, Stupino District ;
- stained glass icon of St. Nicholas Cape Horn for the Temple chapel in the museum of the workshop of Fyodor Konyukhov in Moscow;
- reliefs for tombstones of polar explorers in Antarctica on Buromsky Island , recreated by film director and journalist Olga Stefanova;
