Selina Dogan (Turkish : Selina Doğan ) (birth name Selina Ozuzun (Turkish : Selina Özuzun ), born January 1, 1977, Istanbul ) is a Turkish politician of Armenian descent.

Biography

Born on January 1, 1977 in Istanbul [1] . She graduated from the French Lyceum of Notre Dame de Sion in Istanbul, then Galatasaray University . She then received a master's degree from Istanbul's Bilgi University. The university graduation field worked in a law firm, and also defended in court the interests of societies protecting the rights of ethnic minorities in Turkey [2] .

In June 2015, Selina Dogan became one of the candidates for parliament nominated by the Republican People’s Party [3] [4] . It was nominated after Kemal Kılıçdaroglu agreed with the proposal of societies representing the Turkish national minorities to nominate their representatives to parliament [1] [2] .

On June 7, 2015, Selina Dogan was elected to parliament [5] , she became one of the few members of the Armenian diaspora who were elected to the parliament of the Turkish Republic. In addition to Dogan, two more ethnic Armenians, Garo Paylan and Markar Yesayan, were elected to parliament at that time [6] [7] . In addition to Hermine Kalustyan, appointed by the military to the Constituent Assembly of Turkey, after the coup of 1960, Selina Dogan became the first ethnic Armenian elected to the parliament of the Turkish Republic [5] .
