The list contains monuments , busts , sculptural groups, perpetuating the memory of people and events of the country and the city of Orel . All these monuments were installed in the post-war period. The first memorial signs in Orel date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This is a monument to the Oryol governor Count N.V. Levashov on Levashova (now Proletarian) mountain (1898) and busts of I.S. Turgenev (1903), V.I. Lenin and Karl Marx (1920). There are no monuments of pre-revolutionary and pre-war periods in the city. The list does not include works of monumental art (monumental sculptures and memorial ensembles, monuments dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, stained glass windows , etc.), as well as historical, cultural, architectural monuments, memorial signs and boards [1] [2] [3] .

Remote high reliefs - busts of Russian writers, poets, scientists, political and public figures, composers on the facade of the Book House (intersection of Moscow and Stepan Razin streets) were made by sculptors G. D. Lavrov and M. G. Glushenko. 1954 year. Material tinted concrete [34] [35] .
Statue of Jesus Christ
The famous Oryol merchant of the 1st guild Ivan Lukich Lepeshev at the Trinity cemetery built a clan crypt and under it a tomb. After his death, the descendants erected a mausoleum, the main decoration of which was the marble sculpture of Christ , towering above the mausoleum. The mausoleum was destroyed after World War II , and the white-marble statue of Christ with the tombstone of a merchant was transferred to the Holy Trinity Church. The author of the statue is not exactly known. It is believed that it could be the sculptor M. M. Antokolsky [1] .
Unsaved monuments
Monument to V.I. Lenin - the second monument in the country during the life of the leader was opened on November 7, 1920 at the entrance to the city boulevard (now the boulevard in front of the entrance to the Park of Culture and Rest ). The work of the sculptor G. D. Alekseev . This pre-war monument was destroyed during the Great Patriotic War [1] .
The monument to I.V. Stalin was erected in 1951 in the Zheleznodorozhny district on Industrial Square (now it is Polikarpov Square and Square). Marble sculpture of Stalin in full growth in a cap and overcoat of the thirties was performed by sculptor G.V. Neroda . The same author made a marble bust of Stalin , installed in the foyer of the drama theater. Both works were not preserved [36] .
The monument to Karl Marx (bust) by sculptor G. D. Alekseev was erected in 1920 on the eponymous square in front of the building in which the Free Space Theater is located today. Destroyed in 1941 during the occupation of the city [37] .
