In 1923, Jean Kunho won the sprint race of the Paris Grand Prix among amateurs.
In 1924 he took part in two races at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris , where he won a bronze medal in the sprint, as well as a gold award and the title of Olympic champion in a tandem race paired with Lucien Chouri .
On June 23, 1933, during the race at the Velodrome de Vincennes Jean Cunho crashed and died several days later from the consequences of a skull fracture. His death was an occasion for the French Cycling Federation to introduce the mandatory use of a helmet during racing. [one]
