Cusack, Cyril

Cyril James Cusack ( born Cyril James Cusack ; 1910-1993) is an Irish [6] [7] film, theater and TV actor, whose career lasted more than 70 years [8] .

Biography

Cusack was born in Durban (South Africa). His mother, Alice Violet (née Cole) was an English actress and dancer, father James Walter Cusack worked in the Mounted Police [6] [9] . Cyril's parents divorced when he was a child, and his mother took him to England and then to Ireland. There she remarried.

He first appeared on stage at the age of 7. Cusack graduated from University College Dublin . In 1932 he entered the service at the Abbey Theater [10] . Later Cyril Cusack successfully performed at the theater venues in Dublin, Paris and New York.

In 1963, he joined the Royal Shakespeare Theater Company in London. In the same year, he was awarded the Jacob's Award, the first Irish radio and television award for his work on the Triptych project of the RTÉ One channel.

He received honorary degrees in 1977 and 1980 from the Irish National University and Dublin University , respectively.

In October 1993, Cusack died in his home at the age of 82 from motor neuron disease (known as Lou Gehrig's disease ) a month before his 83rd birthday.
