The nature of creativity
Member of the graphics section of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists of Russia (since 1992) [4] , member of the board (since 2016); one of the initiators of the reconstruction and vice-chairman of the St. Petersburg Society of Watercolourists (since 1997); Awarded the Medal of the Society for the Development of Watercolor Art (2001). Awarded the State Scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation (1995). Member of the International Association of Art Critics, AIS (since 2016). In 1990-1994 joint exhibition activities with A. Parygin . In the 1990s, experiencing considerable interest in the plastic search for the Russian avant-garde [5] of the 1920s and 1960s, Korolchuk takes part (1992–2012) in joint classes and exhibitions with the artists of V. Sterligov’s group ( El. Aleksandrova , M. Tserush, L. Astrain and others) [6] [7] . The main focus in the artist's work is easel oil painting; favorite genres - landscape, still life, nude [8] . As a graphic, Korolchuk prefers lithography and etching, working in medium and small format. Engaged in the decoration of books (since 1999 issued 30 editions). He devotes a lot of time to the watercolor technique [9] . Here is how the art historian of St. Petersburg artist A. G. Raskin characterizes the creative style of the artist:
Korolchuk managed to combine the convention of expressive avant-garde techniques with the harmony of natural lines, thanks to which his works are filled with life, filled with air, and you can feel lively breathing in them. It would seem that fundamentally geometric constructions naturally reflect the flow of forms that form the unity of the world in which man exists and in which he is well. Perhaps that is why such an enlightened pacification is peculiar to the works of the artist, which makes them want to be considered for a long time and come back to them again and again. [ten]
