County of Bren and surroundings
The son of Frederick II von Bren-Wettin and his wife Judit von Ziegenhein.
In 1221, he inherited part of his father's possessions, and in 1234 - the share of his elder brother - Otton II, who died childless.
Since Otton was declared an adult in 1231 (before marriage), it means that Dietrich I as a younger brother was born in the period 1215/1218.
Known for numerous donations to the Dobrilugk monastery, to which in 1240 he gave the village of Graditz.
