Dietrich I ( German: Dietrich I von Brehna ; 1215/1218 - 1266/11 July 1267 ) - Count of Brena from the Vettin clan.

The son of Frederick II von Bren-Wettin and his wife Judit von Ziegenhein.

In 1221, he inherited part of his father's possessions, and in 1234 - the share of his elder brother - Otton II, who died childless.

Since Otton was declared an adult in 1231 (before marriage), it means that Dietrich I as a younger brother was born in the period 1215/1218.

Known for numerous donations to the Dobrilugk monastery, to which in 1240 he gave the village of Graditz.

Wife - Eudoxia Mazowiecka, daughter of the Mazovian prince Conrad I and his wife Agafya Svyatoslavovna Novgorod-Seversky . Children:

  • Otton III (d. 1292) - Count von Wettin. In 1288 it is referred to as canon in Magdeburg.
  • Conrad I (d. 1277/78) - Count von Bren
  • Dietrich II (d. 1272) - Knight of the Knights Templar . Received from father Mücheln and Döblitz.
  • Henry (d. 1302), canon in Magdeburg
  • Jutta (d. 1269/73), husband - Avenger II , Prince of Pomerania
  • Hedwig, abbess in Herbstedt.
