Etymology
The name comes from the name of the Crimean village of Gapyt, Kubinsky district [1] .
History
The village was founded in the XIX century by immigrants from the Crimean village of Gapyt of the Kubinsky district [1] .
The village of Gaputlu in 1913 according to the administrative-territorial division of the Elizabethpol province belonged to the Gaputlinsky rural community of Areshsky district [2] .
In 1926, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Azerbaijan SSR, the village belonged to the dacra Lyaki of the Geokchay district .
After the reform of the administrative division and the abolition of counties in 1929, the Ortalyak Village Council was formed in the Agdash region of the Azerbaijan SSR .
According to the administrative division of 1961 and 1977, the village of Gapytly was part of the Orta-Laksky village council of the Agdash region of the Azerbaijan SSR [3] [4] .
In 1999, administrative reform was carried out in Azerbaijan and the Ashagi-Laksky municipality of the Agdash region was established, which included the village [5] .
Geography
Near the village flows the Kura River .
The village is located 19 km from the Agdash district center and 253 km from Baku . The nearest railway station is Lyaki.
The height of the village above sea level is 12 m.

In 1886, in the village, in 158 houses, 771 people lived, 424 - males, 347 - females, all Haputlins .
The population is mainly engaged in rice cultivation [8] [9] .
