Voodoo (VIXX album)

VIXX first performed Voodoo Doll live during their final concert of the Milky Way Global Showcase in Seoul on November 17, 2013. The first Voodoo Doll broadcast was shown on November 20 at the television premiere of the VIXX final concert on SBS MTV. Later that day, VIXX first returned to the stage in the MBC Music show, with “Only U” and “Voodoo Doll”. On December 6, the group won their first award of a music show at Music Bank, whose nominated work was the last promotion track.

“Only U” (cor .: 대답 은 너 니까; RR: Dadapyn Nonikka, lit. “Because you are the answer”) served as a single before the release. It was produced by the poet Shinsadong Tiger, and co-producer of 4Beontaja, as well as Jellyfish Entertainment CEO Hwang Xie Yun. Ravi teamed up with writer Kim Ji Khan to write the text.

The music video for the song was hosted by Hong Won Ki and filmed in Stockholm in Sweden, capturing the country's beautiful landscapes. A single album peaked at number 40 in the Gaon chart, as well as 18th place in the social chart.

“Voodoo Doll” (cor .: 저주 인형; RR: Jeonghughun Hyun, lit. “Cursed Doll”) is the lead single of the album. The authors of “Voodoo Doll” are Kim Ian and Ravi (who wrote the rap parts). The producer was Huke Sin who produced songs such as: “ Dream Girl ” SHINee and “ Growl ” EXO . ZanyBros was the organizer of the music video for the song.

The music video was released on November 19, 2013. Filmed in the style of a horror movie, it opens with graphic images of organs and flesh that cut, strike and strike together. Concerned participants are imprisoned in separate cells. Their captor joyfully controls and tortures them through a voodoo doll. The participants manage to escape, but Hongbin still comes back, after which, in the end, turns into a voodoo doll.

Due to disturbing images and violence, both the music video and the choreography were censored. The music video did not comply with the rules and was indicated by an R-rating. The clean version was released later on November 24, 2013. Voodoo doll choreography included staff who “hit” members at different points. Large networks banned choreography, citing the fact that it was too cruel. Their company expressed disappointment, saying: “The problem was that VIXX members were turning into voodoo dolls. Choreography is a symbol of the sad fate of the voodoo doll. ” The choreography was eventually modified for broadcast.

The single album peaked at 7th place in the Gaon single-album chart, as well as at 53rd place in the 100 popular Billboard K-pop songs. The album also charted 3 digits in the Gaon social map
