Biography
Born in the city of Lyubim, Yaroslavl region. He graduated from the Zootechnical Faculty of the Vologda Dairy Institute (1934) and the agro-pedagogical department of the Leningrad Agricultural Institute . Then at the teaching work in the Yuryevets livestock college of the Ivanovo region, whose director since 1938. Since 1940, senior inspector for technical schools of the People's Commissariat of the RSFSR, since the end of that year, director of the Bitsevsky Agricultural College of the Moscow Region. Member of the CPSU since 1939. In the fall of 1941, a member of the Moscow militia. In 1943, the Bitsevsky Agricultural College was transferred to a nearby in the village. Butovo, Moscow Region, Research Institute of Beekeeping, which N. M. Glushkov led. In the postwar period, he was also the chief editor of the journal “ Beekeeping ” [1] .
He was chairman of the beekeeping coordinating council of the USSR Ministry of Agriculture, as well as a member of the Apimondia Executive Committee and the head of its commission on honey plants and pollination. He headed the delegation of the USSR at international congresses on beekeeping.
In 1947, at the K.A. Timiryazev Agricultural Academy, he defended his thesis for the degree of Candidate of Agricultural Sciences “The Influence of External Conditions on the Life Activity of a Honey Bee”. His dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences “Improving the productivity of bee colonies by improving the conditions for the development of bees in the post-embryonic period” was highly appreciated at the Voronezh Agricultural Institute, where its defense was planned for May 1966.
He is the author of many works, in particular the books “Tips for the Beekeeper” (1961) and “The Companion of the Beekeeper” (Moscow: Selkhozizdat, 1962. - 320 p.).
He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, two medals "For Labor Valor", medals "For the Defense of Moscow", "800 Years of Moscow", "For the Victory over Germany", the VDNKh Gold Medal (1962). Honored Livestock Specialist of the RSFSR (1958).
