History
Residential building G.N. Khadzhayev (now residential building) was built at the beginning of the XX century in the modern style . In 1913, G.N. Khadzhaev was the owner of the building.
Architecture
Khadzhaev’s residential building in Rostov-on-Don on Socialistnaya Street 65 is a three-story brick house built in the Art Nouveau style. The building is U-shaped, two-story with a basement and a sloping roof; plastered, with an original complex elaboration of the stucco decoration of the facade.
In the asymmetric composition of the facade, two clasps dominate the entire height of the building: the left clasp emphasizes the entrance and is completed with a high stepped attic, the right one with a low. The front door is double-winged, paneled with transom. Window pits are covered with forged bars.
The architectural appearance of the facade is determined by the combination of traditional stucco and stylized decor, as well as the lining of the walls of both floors with ocher ceramic tiles. The horizontal division of the facade carries out profiled traction (basement, window sill, floor) and the cornice.
The rectangular window openings of the first floor are framed by platbands with massive U-shaped sandrikas and castle stones, the semicircular openings of the second are decorated by architects, united by sections of rods at the base of the joining sections; in the western part of the facade, rectangular window sandriks are likewise combined.
The facade is decorated with stucco decoration that stylizes the motifs of flora and fauna: frieze ornamental belts of leaves and flowers, a composition on a stepped attic, an insert with herons in a false lancet of oriental bracing. A floral ornamental motif is also present in the forged canvases of the gates, transom, round window grille.
The facade has been replaced with a balcony, attics have been lost, the stucco and stucco decoration has significant damage and loss. The building is a monument of civil architecture of the early XX century.
