Description
Nikolai Semenovich Leskov was born in the village of Gorokhovo, Oryol county, Orel province . I didn’t get a good education. He lived and worked in Orel, Kiev, Penza, Petersburg. He took up literary activity at the 26th year of his life [2] .
The monument is located on the banks of the Orlik River next to the Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk (Assumption) Cathedral in front of the building of the former Oryol Gymnasium , in which the future writer once studied. Leskov is depicted sitting on a bench with a rounded back and carved details surrounded by five bronze sculptural groups on one and a half meter columns - the heroes of the literary works of the writer Levsha , The Dumbass Artist , Soboryans , The Enchanted Wanderer , Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk County . The sculptural composition turned out to be extraordinary and well oriented in space. The monument was opened on June 11, 1981, the year of the 150th anniversary [3] [4] [5] .
